Most students we work with have no books of their own so school libraries offer not just an opportunity to study but also a chance to develop a lifelong love of reading. For early grades pupils, access to easy reading materials in a school library is crucial to learning to read.
Many of the libraries at our Ethiopian link schools lack the resources and expertise to give children the chance to flourish. Many rural schools have no library at all, putting their students at an even greater disadvantage.
As well as funding new libraries and library books, we are improving how libraries are managed by offering librarianship training to teachers and school librarians.
