Drinking water installed at Tsadiku Yohannes

By | Water and sanitation

The largest elementary school in Gondar, Tsadiku Yohannes, is set on a large site in a relatively poor area of Gondar town. It caters for 3,200 children, half in the morning shift and half in the afternoon, and teaches pupils from Grades 1 to 8. Tsadiku Yohannes is particularly special because it also caters for blind and deaf pupils and those with learning disabilities. We recently worked with the local community to address the shortage of water facilities onsite. We…

Our thanks go to Klaus Blessing and Marcus Scherer who recently worked with Link Ethiopia to construct robust sports equipment for schools in the Gondar region of Ethiopia. Our work with Klaus began in 2009 when he visited Ethiopia and saw the lack of sporting equipment for himself. We agreed to work together to try and improve this situation so that sporting opportunities for local young people can be maximised. We worked with Klaus and Marcus to organise a two-week…

The Fasiledes Secondary School caters for about 3,200 students in the town of Gondar, northern Ethiopia. We worked with the local community to jointly fund a new library building suitable for the number of students at the school. We have also funded the furniture and fittings neccessary to hold the thousands of books the…

New classroom furniture at Fasiledes Prep

By | Classrooms and furniture

The Fasiledes Preparatory School caters for pre-University pupils in the Gondar area and needed sturdy desks and chairs to cater for their 2,000-strong student population each day. Old wooden furniture had suffered over-long use and was no longer suitable or indeed safe for students to use. Working with the school Link Ethiopia has replaced the furniture in 6 classrooms with durable, locally-made metal desk and chair units. A big thank you to everyone who helped support this project. If you…
