Link Ethiopia UK take on Half Marathon

By 11th September 2018Uncategorised

This year the Link Ethiopia team will be doing the run that we have so often challenged you to – the Royal Parks Half Marathon. October 18th will see us running alongside (or a few miles behind) our 17 Link Ethiopia supporter runners through central London and it’s many green parks. Caroline, Rory and Michou will all be running the race – Michou, now on holiday will participate enthusiastically as soon as we get our hands on her. Our small team of three has a range of running abilities and will be taking part for the arguably the greatest prize of all – the chance to run the logo.

Meet the Team

What will we be doing?

We will be taking on this 13 mile challenge on the 18th of October, so we have 6 weeks to prepare, starting now!

We will be keeping you updated with our efforts to train for the event with weekly updates on the Link Ethiopia facebook page (follow us here), including our ‘achievement of the week’ and special training events such as ‘the Great Run Home’ swiftly followed by ‘the Great Carb Buffet’.

Can you help?

Yes please! We are participating in the run to raise awareness of Link Ethiopia’s work and to raise funds for our ongoing projects. All money raised will go to our work transforming lives through education in Ethiopia. This could mean:

  • A reusable period pack for a girl so that she doesn’t have to miss school and can attend confidently throughout the month
  • Uniform, books and shoes for a child who would not otherwise be able to go to school
  • Desks, chairs and a blackboard for a classroom in a rural school

If you would like to support our efforts and Link Ethiopia’s work, you can make a donation to our fundraising page here. You can also help us out on the day by making a contribution to our running playlist, we currently have only 1 hour of music ready and some of us fully intend on stretching this half marathon out for at least 2 hrs 30 so when you make a donation, please comment us your song addition to our running playlist!
