The Link Ethiopia team ask all schools to help their Ethiopian friends by fundraising towards much-needed resourcing projects.

A relatively small amount of money can go a long way in Ethiopia and have a real impact on the schools and the education they provide. Members of the local community are usually very happy to do the work needed themselves. All they need are the materials that are not locally available, or that are costly to obtain.

Fundraising ideas - and not only for schools!

A pledge scheme

This is one of the most reliable and regular sources of fundraising. Parents and friends promise a termly or annual donation. It is easy to set up, simple and effective.

An Auction of Goods and Promises

This fund-raising event can bring in a very large amount of money indeed. Parents, families, friends and local businesses donate interesting items or services that you can then auction at your event.

A raffle

This is a well known and popular way of raising funds in all situations.

An African Supper, Dinner or Banquet

This is a real celebratory social event. Students, parents and friends prepare exotic dishes from all around Africa, and you sell tickets in advance to numerous hungry guests. Choose your recipes, then just add African music, colourful décor and stir well!

... and lots of other ideas, such as a talent show, a cake sale, a school cinema, a non-uniform day, car washing, Christmas gift wrapping, bread and cheese lunches the list is endless!!
