Gondar taxis!
This whole section of the GondarLink Guide to Ethiopia is designed to help you if you wish to leave your computer desk, take the plunge, and plan a visit to this wonderful country yourself.

You will find information, taken directly from the 3rd edition of the brilliant "Ethiopia, the Bradt Travel Guide", on all manner of subjects that will be of general interest in your planning. We tell you about the climate and when is therefore best to visit the different parts of the country. We deal with the languages of the country (with a page, soon to appear, called GondarLink Amharic for First-Timers!), with visa and Embassy matters, we tell you how the Ethiopian calendar and time listings work (not at all what you might expect!), and we introduce you to the sorts of food that you might be offered on your travels.

There are sections on hassles/safety and on general health matters. We advise you about the necessary documentation and financial considerations for your trip, and we try to give you some pointers as to the nature of the accommodation that you might find at your disposal.

An Afar welcome
And then, finally, we mention some aspects of cultural awareness that will not only make your trip comfortable and smooth-running, but will also mean that your hosts in Ethiopia will welcome you as sympathetic and sensitive visitors. Ethiopians in general are exceedingly warm and welcoming in their treatment of their guests, but this can only be enhanced by a little advance knowledge of expectations and culture.

If this country is new to you, we hope that you will consider a trip. It will be an adventure that you will treasure for evermore!
